Books have an impressive power to communicate concepts and to inspire us. Reading a good personal development book at the right time can really change our lives. I personally love to always have a personal development book handy to review when my energies are low or when I need that inspirational boost.
That is why in this post I share a list of books that have the power to change your life. They did it to me personally, and I keep re-reading them whenever I can!
Before starting, I recommend having a personal notepad to highlight the most important ideas. Believe me that once you start reading them you will want to save all the learnings somewhere!
Now, let’s get started!
- Get your Sh**t Together, Sarah Knight.
This book was written by Sarah Knight and I cannot recommend it more. The writer uses her own experience to give advice on how to achieve all your goals by giving clear examples of how to organize.
Sarah was an editor for 15 years at the best-known publishing houses in the United States until one day, after several panic attacks, she realized that she did not want to do it anymore. This is how she decided to put together a plan to be able to go live on some islands with her husband.
What she suggests is that no matter your age or your current situation, making your dreams come true and changing your life is feasible if you organize yourself and break down the big goal into small, daily goals.
Her proposal seems a little too easy, but Sarah offers several examples to teach us her belief. Her plan includes strategizing (breaking that big goal down into manageable daily goals), focusing (spending time on those small goals), and committing.
Definitely one of my favorites, and you can get it here.
2. The Secret, Rhonda Byrne
Phew. How to summarize this great book in just a few paragraphs! The first time I read the secret was many years ago, when I was still in school. At that time the law of attraction was not so well known, although now most know what it is about.
In summary, the law of attraction proposes that similar attracts similar. Our thoughts and words create realities and have the ability to change our lives.
And why does the law of attraction argue that? Because our thoughts, like our words, are energy, and therefore will attract similar energy waves. If I think negatively all the time, chances are that I’ll continue to attract negativity.
The book the Secret reveals precisely the great secret, the operation of the law of attraction and its possibility to change lives.
If you have not read the secret yet or do not practice the law of attraction, I assure you that it will change your life. If you read it let me know and tell me what you think! It changed my life personally, and it is something that I apply daily.
Beyond the visible results, and the fulfillment of our goals, the law of attraction helps us to think positive and to be aware of the power of our mind and our thoughts, emotions and words.

3. You Are a Badass at Making Money, Jen Sincero.
Another one of my favourites. This book written by Jen Sincero, besides being fun is very, very good. At first glance, it seems that it’s a book aimed at improving our mentality towards money and changing our economic reality.
However, the book is much more than that and offers a lot of insight into the power of our thoughts and our mentality when it comes to changing our reality.
Jen says that she lived for a long time in fear of money, and that her reality reflected it. She did not get to pay the bills, she believed that a rich future was not for her, and that she was always in debt. Until one day she changed and decided to invest in her future and alert the universe that she was worthy of everything good!
Here are some phrases from the book that I liked!
“You cannot experience new horizons from the limits of your comfort zone.”
“A firm decision sets everything in motion, your way of thinking and your actions, and alerts the universal intelligence to that.”
“Focus on yourself, on what makes you jump from one foot to the other with excitement, because not living your life is not the way to live.”
“Surround yourself with very energetic people. They are contagious and will improve your game. “
I highly recommend this book and this is the third time I’ve read it! I’ll leave the link to get it and the link to Jen Sincero’s page where you will be able to see the rest of her works.
As always, if you read it, please reach out and share your thoughts!
4. Innercise, John Assaraf.
What can I say about John Assaraf? Basically he’s an expert in mindset and he is one of the first coaches and strategists to speak about the power that our mind has to change and shape our life. Personally, he is a source of constant inspiration, giving clear and effective tips to meet our goals and set objectives.
John Assaraf was part of the book The Secret, wrote two NY Times bestsellers and created 5 multimillion dollar companies, in addition to offering mindset courses to thousands of people around the world.
In addition to giving daily tips on mindset, goal fulfillment, proactivity, and personal development, John launched a new company called Neurogym. It focuses on using scientific knowledge about the brain to help people maximize their results and live the life they deserve!
As part of this new foray into mental exercises that aid personal development, John released a new book called Innercise. He states that just as there is “exercise” for the body, there is also “innercise”, the exercise of the mind so that it works in our favor.
In the book Innercise, John teaches practical exercises to train our mind to break our limiting beliefs and everything that holds us back from meeting our goals.
John teaches us to break the habits that limit us and transform them into new, better habits that help our dreams. It deals with change and inner exercise to see outer results in our professional life, relationships, health, and projects.
I highly recommend following John on social media and reading his books. Everything he says and shares is very inspiring and gives us simple guidelines that can change our habits. Personally, I follow and admire him a lot and I think that if you have not yet been tempted to buy his book, you can follow him on his networks to start learning from him!
5. Big Magic, Elizabeth Gilbert.
This book by Elizabeth Gilbert is about the creative process and about helping everyone receive creative gifts and ideas as gifts from the universe, despite not being the best writers or the best artists.
Elizabeth talks about how we can all be creative, and proclaim ourselves creative, without needing to be a best-selling writer, an artist like Pollock, or a consecrated musician. We all have a creative aspect within us, and if you enjoy writing, painting, or whatever! do not limit yourself by not being “the best writer” but enjoy your process and respect it!
If you feel called to creativity and fear “what will they say” I recommend this book!
I leave a phrase from the book:
“Shake yourself free of all your cumbersome ideas about what you require in order to become‘ creatively legitimate ’… You do not need a permission slip from the principal’s office to live a creative life. Or if you do worry that you need a permission slip — THERE, I just gave it to you… Now go make something. “

6. Atomic Habits, An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones, James Clear.
It’s no secret that our habits can make or break us. Above all, those habits that are so ingrained in our behavior that we are not even able to realize we have them!
James Clear is one of the experts on habits and in this book he teaches us to build habits that bring us closer to our goals and destroy those that drive us away.
I personally trust that our habits, no matter how small, can change our lives. Adopting a positive habit and being constant can generate behaviors that help us fulfill our dreams. As clear says, “With the same habits, you will end up with the same results. But with better habits, anything is possible. “
In the book, Clear encourages us to make small but consistent changes in our habits over time. We may not see anything new at first, but in the future that change can bring us great results.

In addition to these inspiring books, I recommend listening to podcasts on topics of interest or from people you admire. It’s a great way to receive information while we are busy cooking, driving, walking!
I hope you enjoy these books and can implement the learnings on your life. As always, reach out if you’d like to discuss the books with me! I’m always open.
Hop on!
Claire.
